CE Marking
CE Marking is your ticket to EU market access. A CE Marking or CE Mark is a European marking of conformity that indicates a product complies with the essential requirements of the applicable European laws or directives with respect to safety, health, environment and consumer protection.
The CE marking is a mandatory requirement for certain product groups in the European Economic Area (EEA), consisting of the 27 Member States of the EU and EFTA countries Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein.
It is also obligatory for all such products made in third countries (non-member states) sold in the EEA. In that case, the importer has to ensure that the manufacturer outside the EU has taken the necessary steps that allow him to affix the CE mark.
The manufacturer or their authorized representative establishment in the EEA is responsible for affixing the CE Mark to their product with prescribed dimensions. The CE Marking provides a means for a manufacturer to demonstrate that a product complies with a common set of laws required by all of the countries in the EEA to allow free movement of trade within the EEA countries.
